1. How do I know this is not scam or a fraud?
In this day and age it’s a good idea to be a bit skeptic. Skepticism becomes a bit of a bump in the road for companies like ours that are selling a ground breaking product that isn’t the “norm.” Occasionally we receive inquiries as to if our product is a joke. We completely understand the skepticism as there are many sites that are designed for the sole purpose of scamming buyers. This is NOT us!

We are a reputable company and sell our product legally, and without any fraudulent purpose. Our product is UNIQUE and new to many people. You may not be familiar with the idea of purchasing lunar land but that doesn’t make it not legitimate.

Let’s discuss Official Lunar Land’s clientele for some added reassurance. Our company has been in the business of selling lunar property for decades. Millions of customers have purchased moon property from us with confidence. We have an excellent track record and reputation with our customers and we are so proud of this. Our customers include many well known celebrities and 2 former US presidents. Our company has received worldwide press which you are able to review in the Press section of our website.

If you’re still not convinced that this is not fraud, feel free to check in with the Better Business Bureau (the internet’s most vigilant consumer watchdog organization). You’ll be able to consult our company register and check for any complaints filed against us. Sidenote: you cannot become a member of the Better Business Bureau if you’re not in fact a legitimate business.

If after all that your skepticism still prevails, we understand. Selling lunar property on the internet sounds futuristic and unreal... yet it’s just a sign of our evolution to bigger and better things!

2. How are you legally able to sell extraterrestrial properties?
There are several factors to this. First, in order to sell property, it must belong to you. This is true for extraterrestrial property or property on Earth. Now if the property has never belonged to anyone, as is the case with Planet Mars and the other 8 planets, in order to sell the land you must establish a legal basis of ownership.

The popular belief out there is that individual cannot own extraterrestrial property. This is simply not true. According to the UN Outer Space Treaty of 1967, no GOVERNMENT can own extraterrestrial property. The treaty neglects to mention individuals and/or corporations. It was because of this loophole (that the UN was well aware of) that the ill-fated Moon Treaty was introduced in 1984. The treaty forbade individuals and corporations from exploiting (including owning) extraterrestrial resources. When the treaty was up for vote with the UN Member Nations, only 6 out of the 185 nations supported it. Why did the majority of members refuse to sign the ill-fated Moon Treaty? Well suppose we found oil on the Moon one day. This treaty would prohibit the human race from utilizing this oil. What if it were a crisis and we NEEDED the oil for survival? You can see why the treaty didn’t pass.

In sum, the loophole still exists today (if you’re interested in more details on this please visit our Space Law FAQ section).

Therefore, if you are first to claim an extraterrestrial body, you become the legal owner. It’s similar to the old west way of life: He who stakes his claim on a piece of land first, gets the best property. Following an old American law, such a claim must first be registered in claim registries with the local government office. The land is then legally yours. With regards to lunar properties, since Americans were first to walk on the moon and plant the US flag, it can be argued that if the moon ever belonged to anyone it would belong to the USA. So registering your lunar property in the USA is optimal.

Two former US Presidents actually became Planet Mars property owners, which was the kindest reaction from the USA government to our efforts.

Lastly, please be aware of copycat websites that have popped up on the internet claiming to sell extraterrestrial properties. These companies have never made a claim for the lunar land and cannot prove such a claim. In actuality they are infringing on Official Lunar Land's registered copyright and trademark. Ofcourse we take legal actions against such companies but it’s always good practice for buyers to be aware of and steer clear of fraudulent activity. If you aren’t sure about the legitimacy of a website selling lunar property, ask them what their legal basis is. We are sure they won’t be able to give you credentials as we can. Official Lunar Land was one of the first to ever sell extraterrestrial property on any celestial body. We get it that imitation is a form of flattery, but we want our consumers to feel good about their purchases and never have to worry about scams and fraud.

3. If this is legitimate, why is it considered a novelty item?
There are two reasons for this.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines “novelty” as 1) something new and unusual and 2) a small mass-produced article. Property on Planet Mars falls into both of these categories and meets both definitions.

Secondly, our legal team recommended the inclusion of the term novelty item. With a novelty gift classification, we will hopefully avoid frivolous lawsuits from foreign countries. The value of the lunar property is NOT diminished by taking thus stand. Each deed purchased is registered with the International Association Of Human Planetary Exploration (IAOHPE). Each owner’s information is listed and recorded in the registration database.

4. Why is the land so affordable?
If it were overpriced, not everyone would be able to become an extraterrestrial property owner. This would not only be unfair but would also take the fun and excitement out of it. This is, after all, a unique adventure and we want as many people as possible to share it with us!

5. What name will appear on the deed?
If you purchase the Standard Gift Package, the deed comes sealed in a gift pack without a name printed on it. This allows you to fill in your own name or the name of another if you were giving the property as a gift or otherwise.

If you purchased any other Gift Package, the name you specify in the checkout process will be imprinted on the deed.

Registering your acre of Planet Mars is an easy yet important part of the package. Each deed of Lunar Land property is unique and no acre of land can be sold twice. Providing the necessary information for the new land owner to be registered with the International Association Of Human Planetary Exploration (IAOHPE) ensures that the property holder is listed on file in the database for all landowners.

(Please note that your deed and title are intended to represent legal documents. Please enter the complete, full legal name of the property owner on the Lunar Land Deed.)

6. Can I charge NASA if they land on my property?
No you cannot. No celestial body is owned by NASA and they have never claimed them.

Further, the Outer Space Treaty of 1967, which is law, clearly states that Planet Mars, moon and the other celestial bodies are the heritage of all mankind for the purposes of exploration. So NASA can do what they like and go where they like, as long as they are exploring. But if someone wants to build a house or drill for minerals or water on your property, that is quite a different issue altogether.

Lunar Land has never and will never sell a past or planned NASA landing site on any celestial body.

7. What guarantee do I have that you won't sell the same property twice?
No property is sold twice. The land has been carefully mapped out and a database is held of all property registrations.

8. What if someone else tries to sell me land on Planet Mars?
Should anyone else claim to be selling Lunar Land products, they are doing so in an unlawful manner.

These companies have never made, nor can prove such a claim. Furthermore, they are infringing on the Lunar Land's copyright...and worse...they are pretending to sell our (and your) property! (Needless to say Lunar Land has begun taking legal actions against these fraudulent companies.) If you see such a web site, ask them what their legal basis is for selling extraterrestrial properties.

9. Will my family inherit the property?
Absolutely, or whomever you decide to leave it to. This is actually one of the important points about buying an extraterrestrial property. It may turn out to become a valuable investment to future generations. We may not be able to get there yet and live there on a constant basis, but it is pretty certain that one day we will be able to live on many planets and moons in the Solar System. In a few hundred years for example, large colonies on Planet Mars are a probable reality. Undoubtedly, it will happen.

10. Are the NASA landing sites available for purchase?
We believe that certain locations on Planet Mars should remain for the good of all Mankind and are therefore not up for sale.

Another reason is that the Outer Space Treaty of 1967 states that "the heritage of all Mankind, for the purposes of exploration,” therefore even if you did own this property, NASA is legally able to land on it if they wish as they are exploring. Now if another human wishes to land on your property and perhaps mine minerals or build anything, this is a completely different issue.

Official Lunar Land is beyond grateful for the pioneers at NASA for all their work in helping us to gain knowledge of outer space. In our opinion, NASA can come and go as they please and we would never want to interfere with their explorations. It’s thanks to the men and women at NASA that we know so much about the moon and planets and this is why our company even exists!

11. So what about the future?
Lunar Land is currently selling property on Planet Mars, Planet Mercury, Planet Venus, and Planet Jupiter Moon's Io. Also, other planets and moons within our solar system are being considered.

Humanity's survival depends on moving out into the cosmos while the window of opportunity for doing so still exists.

Besides helping to ensure the survival of humankind, the settling of space - including the establishment of permanent human settlements on the moon and Planet Mars - will bring incalculable economic and social benefits to all nations.

The settlement of space would benefit all of humanity. It would open a new frontier, provide resources and room for growth of the human race without despoiling the Earth, energize our society, and create a lifeboat so that humanity could survive even a planetwide catastrophe.

Now is the time for the settling of space to leap from the pages of fiction to reality. It is now time to ignite what future historians will regard as the human species' greatest endeavor.

12. And the most important point?

In all of that, let's not miss the most important point of all: What is Planet Mars to us?

Planet Mars is the action planet of the zodiac. The 'Red Planet,' after all, should be pretty fiery, and Mars does not disappoint. Energy, passion, drive and determination are all right up Mars's alley. This planet commands you to stand up, be noticed and get things done -- sitting on the sidelines belongs somewhere else in the heavens. Simply put, Mars speaks to the power and confident expression of the individual.

Ambition and competition are also within Mars's realm. Whether it's at work or on the field of play, Mars encourages us to face challenges and to be our best -- or better. Aggression is part of the plan here, although Mars also values courage and honor. Assertion and a daring, fearless nature please this planet.

When you buy property on Planet Mars, please enjoy it, because that is what this really is all about. You can dream any day and say, "I own a piece of that!"
